A man survived 18 days without food and water by licking the moisture of his prison walls. Andreas Mihavecs was a passenger in a car crash.the police put him in a holding cell and soon forgot about him. For 18 days no one checked on him. He survived because he manages to get just enough nutrients to keep him alive by licking the moisture of the cell wall. The police that held him was fined 2000EUR each and he was awarded 19,000EUR for the trouble. He lost an amazing 53lbs of body weight.

Derweze is a village in Turkmenistan that is rich in natural gas. While drilling in 1971, soviet geologist tapped into a cavern filled with natural gas. The ground beneath the rig collapsed leaving a hole. To prevent poisonous gas discharge it was decided to burn the gas off. Geologist hoped the gas would soon run out in a matter of days, but 40 years later the gas is still burning. Locals have called this place as The Door To Hell.
